ISP (Internet Service Provider) hosted emails have some of the worst track records in terms of performance and reliability. We highly advice all members to avoid using ISP issued email addresses and instead use an email from an established provider such as Gmail, Yahoo Mail, or Live/Hotmail.
Notable Changes:
- New notification within login area if site auto-disables alerts due to email bounces/rejections. Please note this is standard operating procedure for every website following strict protocols. If our emails are being rejected by your email provider or are returned to us, we will disable your email alerts automatically. Before, the site would do this silently but now there is a notification in the login area when this happens so members can take corrective action.
- Doc Manager limit has been increased to 50. The artificial limit is there to enforce the notion that the Doc Manager is an editing area/working folder and not meant to be an online backup tool. Please note there are no limit on the number of stories you can publish.
- Image captcha has been modified to be easier to decipher.
- Login now accessible with an audio option for the visually impaired. The audio option has been tested on all major browsers (latest versions) and screen readers.
- Fixed a problem with display of certain punctuations for stories in chinese.
- Story page received a slight facelift to put more focus on the review link.
- Forum area received a slight facelift for a better viewing experience on tablet browsers.
- Forum post highlighting will no longer affect the display of adjacent phrases.
- Emails: We have doubled the capacity of our email delivery system and have resolved sporadic issues of delays.
- Performance: Page load times have been improved and especially for those accessing the site from Asia/Europe.
- Doc Manager: We have more than doubled the performance of the Document Manager resulting in a smoother uploading/editing process.
- Stats servers have been upgraded to more powerful machines and we have resolved sporadic issues during this migration process.
- Lots of misc. minor improvements.
January 5th, 2012 -- Notice: We are redesigning the storymarks (story bookmarks) feature and unfortunately the new system is incompatible with the current setup. If you have existing storymarks, please save them at your earliest convinence.
Siteminder: To prevent automated-bots and spammers, we will not accept account registration using disposable email addresses. If you have an existing account registered with an disposable email, please update your email to a valid one as soon as possible. Disposable emails are email accounts that are only valid for a few hours or a very short period.
December 23rd, 2011 -- We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! For 2011 we have dramatically improved site performance and stability as compared to years past. In fact, we have doubled our capacity in the last 6 months alone and have cut page load time by 50% within just this past week. One of our core goals is to deliver the cleanest and fastest experience for our members. Looking foward, we have several great feature launches planned for early 2012 so stay warm and stay tuned.
November 30th, 2011 -- Important: We recommend all users to login and use our new backup emails feature to add at least one backup email to their accounts. This will prevent the seemingly unilkey but very real scenario where one permanently loses account access because for various reasons they forgot both the login password and lost access to their primary email.
Notable changes:
- Mobile: Forum access and basic reply/subscribe features added.
- Mobile: Improved for iPad/Android tablets wiith larger and more legible text.
- Desktop: Traffic Stats graphs are now compatible with tablets.
