As a previous reviewer already stated, the cow allegory is cool, particularly since it's kind of evocative of society as a whole. It's like we can't help but do this to ourselves, and that makes this family so much more representative of families in 'modern' society in general. Particularly with the last line: "We are but a memory of the past," which again makes it seem like changing times - I can't help but question whether the statement should apply to this particular family's past or a social past when this wasn't necessarily the truth of household life. If I could say one thing that would make the poem better, it might just be to distance the author from the poem to make it a bit more poignant; maybe be remembering the instance from some future date? Pretty good poem; shows a lot of promise, I think. :) Congrats.
