This gave me warm, gooey feelings of goodness all over my body, and not in a nasty pornographic way. Seriously. Especially because every writer goes through at least one rock bottom period where they are convinced they're going nowhere and there's no point in writing. Applause to you!

That, my dear, is a very endearing tale!

I was afraid I wasn't going to have time to finish it before going to work, but...Hey I managed it!

I love it! I don't know what else to say, yet again, more of your quality writing! Is this supposed to be an ongoing book? I mean it stands well on its own, but it says "chapter one"

LOL!

Just curious!

Later!

Ah, one more review and then I must pause to post up Darwin's latest chapter for AtR (that was NOT a hint). ^_^

[“Stop with that ma’am stuff,” she practically yells at me as I retreat behind the counter.] Jeez, I can see me turning into this. What was that about small towns? I've been called ma'am since I was sixteen (and living in a small town at the time). What is UP with "ma'am"?

[She waves her hand again then stabs the pencil at me.] Um, don't you mean pen?

AW! You've left me with such a warm, squishy feeling! ^_^ That's a first. But I adored this. So sweet - kinda sappy, but hey, so am I. heh.

ja!

I love short stories like these. Alice was a cool old lady. I can identify with the feeling that my writing is useless.

You did a great job with the character of the waitress. You gave us a lot of detail about her life in a short space of time, which is excellent. It's hard to have good, defined characters in a short story, and you have two! :) I'm so jealous...hee!

This was one of the first stories I ever read on this site. It might even have been before I joined and learned how to navagate my way around. This story really touched me on many levels and I never forgot it. I also took Alice's advice and started making time to write more. This goes on the favorites list!

It's nice. I always like reading pieces on the... process of writing.

great short story. :) you've done a wonderful job with characterization; even though this is only a short story, the characters seem tangible. you give just enough information - not too much, not too little, just right.

great job!
