Hehe, quite funny. To me it symbolises that fact that birthdays are not so important to me anymore. My seventeenth birthday snuck up on me and drifted away into the past before I seemed to even realise it was coming. That's the great thing bout poetry; everyone can find their own meaning.

For some reason while I was reading this one I found it to have a sacastic edge to it that really appealed to me. I have no idea if that was what you intended it to be read but that last line with the "surprise, surprise" for some reason had me thinking that it sounded contrary (sp?) to what it said.
Anyway, great little piece,
