Wow, really good poem. I'm sorry I didn't review it earlier lol. You capture the essence of sports teams, playing for fulfillment in yourself, pride and strength. Personally, I think those professional athletes need to read this and get their priorities in order. ;-) keep writing

Poems irk me, for most of them do not rhyme. I like poems that rhyme, obviously - but though I pretty much despise all of the non-rhyming poems, this one I can make an except for, because many an athlete can easily relate to it which makes it a flowing read.
And yes, it's definitely true that many people play just for themselves, and for the welfare of their pride and self-confidence. The vibrant streetball scene is a prime example of such.
