you've certainly covered all your bases instruction wise, I don't have a method but I'm glad this works for you.

These are great tips, tips that not only regular writers, but fan fiction writers can benefit from. Also, thanks for leaving a review on my essay. ^_^

This is hard to review because its all what works for you. But I'll give it a go, and review your style from the perspective of what I like to see.
1) I hate implausible stuff. But I also recognise the value of escapism. I think the key is to read a good mix.
3) There was a time when the bad guy would get hit in the head, then fall over. Now thanks to Swatzenagar movies, you cant do this. You have to add a witty comment. Like if you hit a guy with a surfboard, you have to say something like "Surfs up Dude" first. I am irked by this. It seems like excessive unrealism.
It sounds like you have a secure style. I guess that's a very important thing. You're right; writing is for the writer.

"Look at James Bond, or x-X-x. Are they remotely close to reality? Do you give a damn?"

James Bond and x-X-x are actually entertaining. What they lack in accuracy they make up for in skill and style. If you get everything wrong AND your writing SUCKS, what have you accomplished? Sacrificing plausibility is one thing. Telling it to Go to Hell can do more harm to a story than good.

Hamish Macbeth/Trainspotting... i NEED that. Double Robert Carlyse-ness, wow! Anyway good essay. ta for the review also,my ex-teacher liked Bob Geldoff, put me right off.

But england *is* grey and soggy, unless you have some sort of blip in the atmosphere down in the midlands which gives tenerife like temperatures. And if you do, well you can keep it: in the north we have fake piers over canals full of crap! And Blackpool! Er.. anyway.

hiya.

like you crossover ideas,

Hamish Macbeth/Trainspotting, i thought i was the only one who remembered this show, i used to watch it on bbc years back.

andremeda/firefly. not sure about this. Im not really a fan of andromeda, infact i hate the damn thing, but its your idea, you do what ya want...

insidently, i keep having odd urges to right someekinda firefly/cowboy bebop crossover. then the rational part of my brain goes 'no, no, no, you'll go to hell'

i get where most crossover ideas come from, but firefly/buffy? there is nothing that conects them except both are made by the same guy. there is no crossover of themes or even similar mythology for you to base a story on.

P.S, Have you noticed that it possible to cross highlander with 99% of scifi/fantasy type shows? weird.
