I am way to old to admit this but I love me a highschool romance. And this one really is one of the best I've read. I love the chemistry, and all the supporting characters. The one qualm I have is the parents seem to be playing peekaboo throughout. Which I get is the point in the male protagonist' parents, but Kate's dad is seemingly loving but also totally absent till half way through. Where was he during the thanksgiving fiasco? And it's a little surprising she doesn't miss them more.
But really that's my only point of criticism-if you wanna call it that. I loved how you didn't waste any page on unnecessaries. The moment that Kate leaves and Cam spies the prom dress is just breathtakingly haunting.
And the thing I love most is how you really gently led them from hate to love hate to friendship to love. And I even enjoyed that Cam's womanizing lifestyle made hings complicated for him. That he couldn't immediately go from being friends to faithful lovers after one kiss was so so believable. I love how he tried to make out with other girls during the summer Kate was gone, but couldn't follow through on it with actual sex. That was believable. And the swoonworthy confession really made it all worthwhile.
