I don't really know where to start reviewing this... It's awesome.
I love the way you write. I have no idea how you do it, but it's damned good. This piece reminds me a lot of something I read in college... I think it was called The Monkey House by Kurt Vonnegut, although I could be wrong. It's not really the same kind of narrative, but a lot of this reminds me of some of the themes in it...
The first-person perspective is really effective - Raine is a brilliant narrator IMO. The relationship between all the different races is described well enough to understand but not so much that the story dissolves into a long and boring history - doing that would just be unrealistic in first person POV, and probably send readers to sleep. As it happens, the way it is presented actually makes me wonder about the history and want to read more on it... Damn you!
The characters are all really strong. I love Raine because he starts off as a tough guy but then kind of ends up... I don't know... being someone the reader can sympathise with. At the beginning he seems hard and cold and distant but then ends up being probably the most human character... ironically. Porter is a pathetic little weasel, and dressed most appropriately, I feel(!) and Pitch? Hell, I just plain love him! Psychopath! XD
I really like the way that the colour red is a theme throughout the whole piece too. Danger, anger, blood, passion... it's all there. Pretty powerful stuff.
In conclusion... wow.

wow- I'm totally speechless! This is amazing, I love how you started this. I almost clicked out of it (I'm not a fan of long stories) but the first paragraph caught me. I'm in awe, I really dont know what to say except thats it's really really good! I'm really amazed. I'd like to see more, are you going to have more chapters? I'll be watching for an update!

nice...so red IS rage...as for how I knew? It just made sense. Blue is sad, Green is peace, Red is anger...black should probably be cold...maybe evil...but I don't know why people would take that...cold would probably work...when they want to forget all emotions. Haven't thought of anything for White yet...all my ideas come out close enough to Green that it doesn't matter, and the one idea I have come out with seems...meh...*shrugs* Hehehe. Anyways, nice stories.
