I think my favorite line is "Memories of war and peace Echo off its tired walls." I love that metaphor. And your rhyming was perfect (ie: no stupid lines just to rhyme) and you kept up a smooth iambic contamitor. This is outside the fact that it's a sweet story: it makes you think.
