I love how you end this 'too close to bear/ and so very distant...' reminds me of how my mother used to skip work and cart us kids off to the beach for the day. reeses pieces ice cream, a stranger offering from a decrepit car, gulls, lemonade, sandwiches and the little tide bugs, how i used to try and form walls and moats to keep the tide from rushing in, always, always failing. this poem brings me back, great description, esp. 'splash of sand', how you tie the water with the beach in that way, very unique.
