It's definitely suitable for the genre. Inserting pain into something positive, such as love, can give a poem character. It's a negative-positive-negative aspect towards something most people tend to view optimistically about. Obviously, I'm not an optimist about love (go figure). I've seen way too many accurately titled "chick flicks" and it's always the same thing. Most romance films get under my skin. Unless someone dies or there's a sinister tension between two lovers, I'm inclined to believe that most love stories are turned to mush after Hollywood's ripped them to pieces.
I should stop writing now. But I loved the mood and especially the tone of this particular poem. Thankfully, there's someone with class on this website (lolz).
