Awesome little ficlet, powerfuly written. A bit graphic as you said but tolderably so! In reply to some other reviews though, I have to agree with margueritte. While they did IN SOME COUNTRIES burn witches at the stake, I do not believe that is what happened in Salem (at least, not during the Salem Witch Trials). According to the historical records that I have read, most of the condemned witches of SALEM were hung, drowned, or died in prison. Some died through torture as well. There is even an account of one man, Giles Corey, being pressed to death because he refused to confess. I dont recollect any burnings, though.
However, this story is not necessarily set during that period and could therefore have occurred earlier, which might account for the different method.

hey sis that was awsome. It touched me deep and thats hard. Sigh. That was really great imagery and i felt like i could feel her pain her knowledge of innocense and her perserverence through the torture. Just awsome.

wow...that was good i guess you could say. not what happened, obviously, but how it was written. very short and very very well written. it's so sad that that actually happened. good job on capturing her feelings.

wow I found your writing style very unique as I haven't read many stories on fiction press that write in the present tense as it is quite difficult but you managed it really well. I look forward to reading more of your stories.

sorry, i'm leaving a second review! you don't mind, do you? :D
replying to margueritte, really they did burn witches often. where did you hear that they didn't?

Oh! that's so sad! she was skinned before before they did all that other horrid stuff? and she survived? urg. i think death by fire is one of the ore painful ways to die, BUT SKINNING? that sheds a whole new idea on things!
very wonderfully written. i really did like it though it was gruesome. awesome job!
PS, can you tell me when, as in years, the witch burnings happened? i've been curious but to lazy to push a few buttons on my comp and find out, heh! i don't much like research.

some of the comparison were really good. the only thing wrong was that no one was ever sentenced to be burned at the stake. they are called the salem witch trials...not burnings...sorry. most were drowned or hanged, some just tortured to insanity at which point they would falsely confess.
