Just In
for Not Irish

This was a great read, but I just completely fell in love with your character Irish and the way you built her up to be both punk rock goddess, reigning cool cat, and very human. Really well done.

I managed a grunt and a nod.

"Armani or Gucci?"

I don't know if you still read reviews, but man, this story deserves way more than it has. it's absolutely brilliant; had me laughing and crying and thinking FINALLY, someone writes about real people, and how real people talk and behave and go through every day.

Seeing the 99 reviews mark I know any writer would want a damn person to do the last review so you can reach the beautiful 100 number. So TADA I come to review!

This was such an awesome story, just wow... You got me wishing I was part of some punk rock band. Although I'm not much for punk rock, I'm one for the hardcore metal and intense screaming kind of music. The kind that you associate with posers, ya know?

Yea, I'm lame like that x).

The characters were kick ass and I found myself wishing I was friends with a chick like Irish or Ri or whatever her real name is. Really awesome story, I hope there's a sequel, I have yet to check your profile for it though..

Keep writing, I'm pretty sure you'll go far =D

I loved this. I read it in one sitting. Stylistically, it was great-short and sweet and to the point. And, as far as realistic characters go, I was on board with every one. You described the nuances of local shows very well-I was never "punk" per say (more of the wannabe pin up variety. heh), but the basics of the local music scene stay the same. It definitely added realism. I liked your author notes as well-I ran with several punk rock musicians for awhile, and they expressed the same sentiments as you. I get annoyed with people who find themselves pigeonholed into these stereotypes based on labels.

Anyway, I loved it. I will say that, from a writing standpoint, I think you needed to build up the Damon plot twist a little more. It's definitely believable that abusive boyfriends exist, but my belief was a little too suspended when he turned psychotic. I think the buildup could even be as simple as physical symptoms (feeling sick when she sees him) or interpersonal (her friends being a lot more aggressive when they see him). Her friends obviously knew, but I think if every mention of him was met with a lot more anger, we might be able to pick up who he actually is, rather than just think he was a punk rock ken who left Irish for a Barbie. (GOD, I know the feeling, too! Poor girl.)

I'm rambling now. Great great. Loved it. I'm going to see if you wrote anything else.

Hm yeah, I agree, the ending was a bit rushed, and we never really found out what was up with that girl Julia in the beginning. Why would Vertice just immediately turn and hit on Irish if he had just gotten out of a different relationship, unless she was just a rebound? I guess I never really understood that part.

Cute story though. The plot was good, and Vertice was hot, haha, well, Vertice & Irish together were hot, and while a part of me does say that the ending (mainly just the last chapter) was a bit rushed and summarized, another part of me likes it that way too because then we just... they're together and we didn't really have to endure that whole we're-drifting-apart phase that's always unquestionably painful to go through.

So yeah. Great job, keep up the good work. I enjoyed this story.

Mwuahahaha. Finally a story with a french guy in it, I was starting to think that us, french people, had been forgotten by the rest of the planet.

I love your story( in french : "J'adore ta putain d'histoire!")

Anyway, you must write a sequel. And if you need anything to translate in french, ask me. And start writing, now.

Haha ok wait stop - I just realised I wrote a review previously about writing a sequel but not about these characters...what the heck was I thinking? Clearly I was insane. Please, pretty please write more about the future ins and outs of Irish/Vertice's relationship :)

Goddamn you are an amazing author! Feelings of envy surface hehe :) I've read this story a bunch of times and I never get sick of it - it's funny, sad, dramatic, mellow, sweet, bitter, in short, wonderful!

It's incredibly sad how I still squeal like a little girl when I read the parts about Irish and Vertice in "Yelling at Bees". Don't blame me, I'm such a romantic sod and they are really my favourite couple of all time, particularly because they mesh so well together. It would be fantastic if there was a sequel *hint hint* (no, subtlety isn't and was never, my forte)!

If you ever formally publish your stories, let us know - would love to read more of your work :)
