Let me tell you, after reading this I am very close to tears, and not much does that to me... well okay, I lied a lot does, but that doesn't change anything it was great!

The rhythm is kind of tweaking, the rhyming is kind of forced for me but it was okay. It was kind of repetitive in a way that I can't explain, maybe it's just me. The imagery is rich. "For I knew death had one more to claim." I love that line. :D

you did a good job capturing the helpless feel and your rhyme scheme is done very nicely :)
