I find it funny how the status of women changed between the very early greeks (Minoans- when they could run for public office and held a lot of power, and were equal to men- and then what we know as Ancient Greece when as you showed in this essay, the women were locked up in the house and were practically slaves. How the hell they got from equals, to that; I dont understand. Maybe it is because the Minoans werent directly greek...just influenced them...
Anyways, very interesting essay. You made the Greek marriage customs alot more interesting than they would be in a textbook.
