for Ode to my Lost Poker Chip

This poem made me happy to know that I'm not the only one suffering through the joys and woes of marching band!
The second stanza was my favorite, for some reason. Yes, that definitely is quite the dash!
I was surprised when I read the reviews, though; most people said that they used things like chalk or tape to mark their places. We have to memorize ours.
(Also, I can relate to the color guard thing - ours is horrible!)
Great poem!

hey! y do band members always hav a thing against the guard! we try JUST as hard and its JUST as hard 2 do things and we make u guys look AWESOME. ANYWAY, weird how u use poker chips. we hav a parking lot w/a football field painted onto it and then we just draw our dots w/chalk.

Hey, well. It's not our fault. It's hard to march and toss a flag at the same time! Most of my band geeks are used to it. We joke and call it freshman orientation. Use Duct tape! That's what we use, and each section has a different color. IT works well.

That was amazing! Poker chips only add confusion to my band though… we never stop on the right one! Oh well, back to the poem. I really liked it! (It made me giggle with memories) Good job!

That happened to me too! I forgot to write my number on mine, and guard people started using it... grr...

Anyway, this made me laugh. I wish you the best of luck in finding your chip. BTW, have you ever lost 3 copies of one coordinate sheet? That happened to me, and the 1st chair Alto Sax had to set me up... SAXES RULE!

Haha, awesome! I know exactly what that feels like.

Really cute. Made me laugh. Damn colourguard, denting my saxophone. -spits-

Poker chips are truly difficult to keep in one place. Maybe next time you should use duct tape. XD

Hey, that's not a bad idea... O-o

Ah, a parody. Although I must confess to not being in band mself anymore, this was a nice amusing peice.

Hey! I'm a flago, and I can honestly say that I've never hit a fellow band-mate with my pole... intentionally. I totally get the poker-chip thing. I can't even mention some of the things I've passed on the field as place markers... twitch...

Finally, someone who understands...

That was great. Lovely job, terrible band nerdish, but all the same...We use clothes pins, but I suppose it's all the same.

Just so you know, I do plan on reading some of your fiction as soon as I can get to it (as in a week) but I'll get it done, I have a little note that says so...

ROTF, That was funny, sounds just like band-camp... anyways, no I didn't take the time to translate the thing with a dictionary and paper cause I am a.)too lazy, b.)don't take latin, and c.) don't own a latin-english dictionary... anyways that sounds really like band camp, damn flags always hitting my clarinet...Lia

I haven't really done this since it's hard to see the ground around a drum, but I've had people actually dig their feet into the ground to mark where they're supposed to be at the begining of each song... Our practice feild looked like crap at the end of camp... and we got yelled at... good times... This poem was hilarious!

That was truly hilarious! As a fellow band geek I know exactly where you are coming from-except I'm usually far more than a half-a-beat behind. But seriously, that was lovely prose in the unlikeliest of situations. Great job!

Wow. I am so glad I'm not in band anymore, if it does this to you...O_o

Very funny. Very, very funny. Consistent with rhythm and rhyme, and I like the apostrophe ("Oh, poker chip!"). Yes, thou talkest to a poker chip. Good times, man. Good times.

Ta!
