It has been a long time since I read this for the first time. I've been reviewing your work, and as I have re-read, I have come to the conclusion that this is - in my eyes - your very best. The character is so endearing and the controlling metaphor so achingly personal that it is universal in many respects. It tells a story of disillusionment and desire in a manner that provokes no end of jealousy. Beautiful.

Steadily, my face crept closer and closer to the computer screen to eagerly see what was next. I'm amazed.

Wow, this is one of the best poems I've read in a while. Just linguistically - the alliteration is strong without being overbearing or forced. The word choice is perfect - every image feels real. The topic of the poem is familiar, something I can understand and relate to. It's a beautiful, wonderfully written piece. I am quite impressed.
