Hmmm not a conventional secret admirer story. Very unique plot and I kinda wish it was a multi-chapter, could have developed it much further I think :)

Hokay, so.
I know I'm seven years late in reviewing, but I thought, "Hey, what the hell? Why not?" so here I am, reviewing. Yay.
I must say, I both loved and disliked this piece. It doesn't really seem like your style. Not exactly Rykaine-like. But there's nothing wrong with that. Everybody needs to try something new every now and then. And I applaud that.
I loved it because it was so incredibly original. I loved your descriptions of the way both Matt and Darryl perceived each other in the giving and receiving of the notes and flowers. I also liked that you took Darryl out of context and brought him home, both literally and figuratively, to describe something I get the feeling he wouldn't have otherwise. And Matt - how hard is it to not sympathize with the more "realistic" character. I say realistic with emphasis and quotations because there are very few people like Darryl out there, and even fewer who know them in detail and can sympathize with them in one way or another.
I disliked it for the feeling of detachment that haunted Matt and Darryl for the majority of the story. It wasn't really made clear, until the very end, that Matt's intentions had turned from comforting to comforting and romantic in nature. You do go into some depth and explain it a little bit, but only in the character's mind without giving the readers (i.e. me, because I'm really just a selfish, self-centered beatch who thinks of herself when reading-and-or-reviewing) much insight on how that decision was reached, consciously or unconsciously.
And that's really all I have to say.
Thank you for the thought, thank you for writing it, and thank you for the read.

The ending was wonderful!
I enjoyed the plot, and I liked how Matt had little intention of getting himself into a relationship in the beginning, but welcomed the idea in the end.
It was very sweet.
Thanks for posting!

I love office romances but almost nobody writes them! There are manga and some MM books but not that many original fics *pout
So this is just awesome for me! Pure love :D
I want more, but I know it already ended perfectly, so I'll shut up.

Here from a rec on the_slash_pile on lj. It was a really good story, lovely and sweet and cute. I loved a lot of things about it, especially the premise and the way the plot unfolded and flowed. The descriptions were really great, I could picture the flowers and the cards sitting on their computers so clearly. I really liked your characters as well, you managed to tell us lot about them in a very short story. It made my morning, thank you!

This was such a wonderful story! I like that Matt's motive for giving the flowers was something he hadn't fully realized himself, but that he continued giving them and writing notes because he felt it important to both encourage Darryl and let him know he was appreciated. I also really like that Darryl always knew who his "admirer" was. I was a bit surprised Alice didn't also recognize Matt's handwriting, but assumed she was too busy being caught snooping to register it.
Your writing has wonderful flow and pacing. I like how you tell stories!
