Actually, now, there are robot owls. My niece has one. Sis hid the batteries. :D Very amusing, very truthful. :D A pleasure to read.

Oh, Harry Potter. My step-sisters are *obsessed* with Harry Potter. They have posters, books, movies, the wands (nothing plastic...those "authentic recreations"...which seems like an oxymoron to me), t-shirts, board games, video games, candy, costumes...and the annoying thing is that that Harry Potter is not even their greatest obsession. I wish you would have made this more facetious, though. Like my mom and step-dad are when they talk about all of the HP stuff they have bought...and the fact that the older of my step-sisters named her pony "Norbert." Here is my contribution to the spirit of your essay: Thank you for draining our bank account, Harry Potter, with your overzealous advertising and unfortunate popularity with children the world over. Twenty years from now when this 'memorabelia' is being hocked in pawn shops for 1/7 the price paid for it, I'll be sure to give you props. Cheers to the biggest hook to catch little children's attention since beanie babies or Tickle me Elmo! May your life in the spotlight last longer than the batteries in your light-up wand.

Thank you for so perfectly voicing what many Harry Potter fans are thinking- that the movies, media hype, and stupid products should be left out of the equation. It should only be about the books...

Really funny. It is really sad that Harry Potter sold-out so much...The books are amazng, but in my opinion, they should have left it there. No movies, no merchandise...etc...
Wonderful letter
