Before I write anything more, I have to admit that I'm a Democrat- I think that'll make my concrit more worthwhile, because I don't agree with most of the things that your party believes!

But your enthusiasm was catching, and I quite enjoyed reading a different POV from my own. I'm quite glad that you didn't straight up trash the Democratic party- that would have been low and angry making. Instead, you explain why you believe that yours won, and that's ever the more effective.

On the other hand, though, I don't think that I quite see your point. Half of your essay regarded the instability of the Democratic party, and the other was a well-worded Kerry bash. The latter goes against your claims in the former- when you say that Bush won because Kerry was a crappy candidate, that belies your claim that the win was because the US is by nature a conservative nation. Essays are (usually) meant to prove a point- so choose ONE and stick with it!

I'd also like to point out that you have one or two typos, which will no doubt provoke the more close-minded of us to flame you. Revising might be good for your sanity!

I'm a little late, but Jauvas, you're living proof that Green Day keeps turning out political diarrhea and its rabid followers, unaware of what to think, eat it like it's filet mignon.

Oh boy, where should I begin?

"...we are a country that believes in Republican ideology..."

All I have to say here is speak for yourself, punk.

"Some say “Well Bush divided this country!” Is that so? Then why does the Left, why do Democrats scream “He’s not my president!” as we speak!"

Yes, it is so. His insane right-wing agenda is the reason that we leftists have moved even further to the left, and also the reason that we deny his presidency (plus the fact that the 20 election was ridiculously fraudulent).

"The main issue for voters was…ready for this? Morals! MORALS! If that doesn’t say enough! Republican morals, not Democratic ones, are what people voted on. Its what gave the GOP a 55 seat lead in the Senate, which gave them 234 seats in the House of Representatives. It wasn’t about Iraq, or Osama, or the economy, or taxes…but morals. Morals folks! "

Ok, what in the hell do morals have to do with the government? What's important is the Constitution, which, if you did some reasearch on the subject, you will see that Bush has been constantly and blatantly violating with laws such as the Patriot Act that clearly infringe upon things such as writ of habeus corpum. And I would like to add this: if you think Bush is so "moral," you should consider the fact that he performed the most executions of any Texas Governer in history and even mocked a prisoner as she was being put to death. I don't see being on the short list of countries that still perform executions (only behind the Saudis, China, Iraq, and Nigeria... my, what pleasant company we're in) as being "moral."

"Nobody ever liked John Kerry, he was supported because he was the option against Bush!"

This is the only point in your essay that I agree with. He was the lesser of two evils.

"Democrats and liberals just do not understand that this country is not a liberal country! We tried liberalism…forty years ago. It worked then, but it does not work now. We gave it a last gasp in the 90s under Bill Clinton, but in the end this country showed we are a conservative country. This does not mean we’re out to push women back into the kitchens, or we want to bring back Jim Crow laws, or that we’re out to run ram shod over the world. It just means that we’re about conservative values, a more nuclear family. A family that preaches responsibility and not excuses. That’s our core."

Who is "this country" that showed it's conservatism? That really just applies to you conservatives. And you know what? You don't own this country. It's my country too. We liberals are just as much a part of this country as you are. This country is FAR from unanimous in terms of political affiliation. And you think conservatives are responsible? What about responsibility for the environment? If we're so "responsible," why did we pull out of the Kyoto Protocol? Isn't stopping global warming our responsibility as well?

I can't even begin to explain how much conservative jerks like you who shout about morals and what's "right" for the country without doing research infuriate me. Maybe you should read a few books on all the details of the Bush administration, as I have, so you can back up your opinions with facts rather than merely spouting out this disgusting propaganda.

it's the pyschotic liberal freak again. about the iraqi civilian death toll...the 25 was a typo, it's actually 15. and yes i can back it up. the new york times printed it in the issue about the 20 soldiers.
11/28/2005 c1 8LadyVerse
hi this is ladyverse. i would like to respond to a review you gave of one of my essays because i feel the need to defend myself. first, this is my OPINION! i do not believe that what i am saying is absolute truth. it is just what i believe. that also goes for my definition of patriotism. second, i am not putting myself on a pedestal by complaining about the state of this nation. i am not excluding myself from the american lifestyle, so don't say i'm a hypocrite. i will admit that the stuff i said about the white republicans and all that crap was out of line. sorry if i offended you. third, DON'T call me psychotic just because you don't agree with me. i happen to have plenty of friends who feel the same way about these issues. fourth, i agree with the economic stuff you're saying aobut "this is how it has to be sometimes," but my point is this is not the way it should be. this piece was a rant by definition, and rants generally complain about things. but don't be so omniscient as to claim that you know i'm just a crazy liberal who never seeks a solution to things. maybe i am actually doing something - but just because i am, i don't have to share it with you. and lastly, don't associate me with the democratic party or the "liberals" because you're right - they're in a shambles. i don't like them any more than the republicans. and about your essay - my point is not trying to appeal to the majority. my point is trying to speak my opinion. i don't care about how much support liberals have, or if anyone agrees with me. oh, and another thing - the dictionary definitions were really fucking condescending. just don't read my work if you don'tt agree with my politics.

hey thank you for the comment, I guess different strokes for different folks I suppose...it was rather quirky, because four of five other people thought it was funny, but there you go! :-D

I liked this, it was very nicely written! keep it up.

your essay is a bunch of horse shit. If you're such a big fan of chimpy mcflightsuit, then why aren't you fighting the pointless war he started

accidently hit enter. Let me finish my review.

As I was saying before, one of the main reasons the liberals lost was because they have no strong leaders. No well known democrat is well liked enough or smart enough to win an election. It's a problem that cost them the 2004 election and will probably cost them electin 2008. Their only real option now is to pick some unknown from the house of reps or a governor who has characteristics that the public likes. A minority candidate, a black, Mexican, or Native American, would also be a good choice.

and you might want to get some of your facts straight. Bush has lost 3,0,0 jobs (according to CBS news), not 800,0. Hell, Michigan alone has lost close to 300,0 since Bush came to power. However, the lost jobs may not be Bush's fault.

also, few would agree with your last line. As the most powerful country in the world, we are already in the right direction, and if by right direction you that our economy is down, millions of jobs are lost, we're in the middle of a war with no end in sight, and that whole Katrina hastle, then you're pretty much mistaken. Do to those things, few would agree that Bush's reelection is a good thing.

I view Bush as a mediocre president who is doing an okay job. My only problem with him is that he doesn't seem to I also think this is a very good essay, even though I don't agree with you on certain things.

London's newsoaoer asked how could 59,0,0 people be so dumb because basicslly all of Britain hates Bush. Hell, 71% ofr Europe doesn't like us, and that has nothing to do with Bush. But when you invade a country and start a war that the public doesn't support, of course no one's going to like you. And the fact that Britain got dragged into a war that the British don't support doesn't help matters.

Anyway, the reason Kerry lost was because he was a moron. He had no new ideas and was rellying solely on Bush's low approval rating.

Also, most people voted for Bush either because they didn't like Kerry, they were very right-wing, or because they thought that only Bush could clean up Bush's mess (Iraq).

The democrats prob
11/11/2005 c1 Let's be fair now
Let's be fair now. You're totally right - Americans undoubtedly voted Bush as their President. It can't be one of those "Florida messed up" cases. But, being fair, guess who's approval ratings are only 30 percent? George Dubya.

If you're still reading this, your bio says that you're not going to agree with anything liberal... ever. That's a little closed minded (and sterotypical rightwing) if you ask me (but you're probably not). But I'm not saying liberals are any better. I agree with a few republican things as well as liberal. No party is 100 percent correct, and if you're well educated, you can agree.

I respect your opinions and thank you for voting. Instead of bashing Democrats, write some good stuff about Republicans too. They do have some pros, despite was super-democrats think.

I anxiously await something like that from you in the future (but if you choose not to, I obviously can't stop you)

PS Your comment about not fighting Russia in winter is an astute observation...
8/26/2005 c1 34Forest Passant
I kind of agree with you-not about the "Bush-is-so-freakin'-great" parts, but yes, the Democrats need to get clearly defined positions and a candidate that's aware of what they are.

Maybe not an annoying rich kid... that would be nice too.

I just have to say that I LOVED this!ha *proud American Republican!* FOUR MORE YEARS! Bush is an awesome president-Kerry would make a terrible president! Awesome essay, I loved it!

I was looking for the part that this other reviewer said about dysfunctional marriages, but I didn't see that...

And I don't like to cook, so I don't stay in the kitchen very long..(lol)..but everybody liked my tzimmes at Passover (that's a carrot-orange dish for the 'majority' of religious conservs who don't know... and to make a tzimmes about something is to make a big deal about it...)

Anyone who makes a tzimmes by shouting extremes at the other party is making a desparate ploy. Among lawyers (of which I am studying to become one like Jay Sekulow of ACLJ - a very nice Jewish guy), there is a saying: If the law is against you, use facts, if the facts are against you, use emotion (that's close to how it goes, anyway).

Bush has chutzpah, and if you go to Jewish World Review, you will find that not all Jews vote for meshugunahs like Kerry. I should know...but then I'm not orthodox (lol)...^..^
5/3/2005 c1 8Rosa Vernal
You know what's funny? The "majority" of Americans who voted because of morals was roughly 20%. The rest voted on stuff like the economy, the war, domestic policy, etc.

There's lies, damn lies, and statistics.
