Good Chapter! Im going to go on and read the rest now. Like the title, good quote. Julius Ceaser was reported to have said it wasn't he? "alea iacta est"

ok. first of all i really like this story, its very well written. Secondly . . . die is a reference to more than one, right? so shouldn't it be the die were cast?
Sorry, im not an english buff or something, just curous.

I'm ridiculously happy that you're continuing! This was so well written that it would have been a shame if you just stopped.
However, the fact that it's been a while since you last wrote is quite obvious in your style. The bantering is no longer Heyer-esque but more along the lines of...well, Julia Quinn comes to mind but not quite..., but what I mean is that there's a more current-popular-historical-romance-authors' flavor. Have you been reading Qunn, Enoch, Hern, etc.? Your previous chapter was the best example of sustained smooth wit that I've read outside of Heyer and this new chapter is quite jarring coming right after it.
I understand that after two years, your writing style is going to have changed. However, I recommend you go on a Heyer binge to get back into that mindset.
I hope this review hasn't been too disheartening. You're still an awesome writer and I'll be following this story till the end!

I was so happy when I saw this update. At first I though the latest chapter was some sort of announcement about discontinuing this story -o- I'm so glad to know that you still want to continue this story c:
Right now I can't wait for the next one. I would love to see the reaction of other people towards the engagement of Cass and Winborne. And I'm just curious, but whatever happened to Frederick?

I think I read through this ages ago, saw you hadn't updated in forever, and then forgot about it. And then I was looking through the historical page today and saw it and thought, "Hazard... why does that sound familiar?" Ha ha, good times for all. There's nothing like gambling away your sister to a rogue.
Cass and Winborne are fun, but I feel like apart from the very beginning and that one spontaneous kiss, any chemistry they have is kind of forced. How they will fall headlong into romance at this point I have no idea - but there's plenty to work with, I imagine. I'm interested to see how you maneuver Cass especially, since she seems to be oscillating between defiance and resignation in regards to being his fiancee.
Eliza is pretty awesome, though. I kind of want her to surprise Boldstock, rather than have him sweep her off her feet unexpectedly. But I guess I'll see what happens. ;]
