This was very serious in the beginning, but then it suddenly took a humorous turn with the queer part toward the end. I think you did a good job with the dialogue. You don't have to actually tell us how the characters are, just the things they say give us a good insight into their character. I'm not a big manga fan, but since you reviewed one of my stories, I thought I'd return the favor.
