Wow. That's all I've got to say. (= I'm a hijab-wearing Muslim girl and I found this very liberating and very, very, VERY true.

Mm. I never, never thought about it that way. I just agreed with everybody who assumed they WANTED to show their hair or wear more revealing clothes. Further proof that when you assume you certainly do make an... you know. ;)

Very beautiful piece. I love the strong emotions in it. I love how the woman's voice can be heard... you have an amazing talent. Don't ever stop writing!

I loved it. It has this raw beauty that speaks directly to the heart. Wonderful. You've really captured the essence of how Muslims feel. :)

Beautiful. I love the perspective you took to make it about what's underneath-looking past the action itslef.

I am not Muslim but I truly enjoyed your poem. I enjoyed reading it because it talks about staying true to what you believe. This is something that I young girls need regardless of faith or nationality.

interesting concept. It really shows what goes on in a Muslim person's mind. Greay job.

p.s. thanks for your review. ^_^

I like that you picked an unusual topic for this poem - I also wrote a poem about the hijab but I haven't found many others like it. I also like that you chose to write it from this perspective, focusing on the person's opinions rather than the hijab itself. The only suggestion I would make is to maybe tweak some of the lines so the meter is more regular; the poem might have a stronger impact then. Overall it's very creative and I would like to read more poems like this in the future.

Ok. I have recently watched a pretty depressing movie on 9/11 and the problems Muslims had while living in the US afterwards. It had a lot of emphasis on the hijab and all other visible signs of being a Muslim (being veiled, having a beard, etc.) and how people had to change their appearance.

I'm glad there's someone out there who understands all this and is brave enough to post this on the net. Great job on it!

Some of my favorite parts:

...freedon isn't just a word...

And the last line. They really touched me.

I've read the poem and the reviews and it looks like I'm on my own.

Maybe I'm just wierd, but I personally couldn't catch the flow of the poem and it sounded extremely detached and some-what childish to me. There were a few good lines in the poem, but overall I can't say that I really enjoyed it.

You're still an awesome writer xD

I'm a muslim girl, and I am impressed. I don't think I have read anything with this POV. I don't wear the scarf, but I love your message.

My favorite line: ...Freedom is much more than a word...

Definitely.

Great job!
