Yes, as much as we don't want to admit it, our social circle are most probably made of acquaintances. But (as corny as this sounds) a friend is someone you can trust, and one who is willing to talk to you at 3 am. Glad someone finally wrote about acquaintances.

Haha, I've thought about that before. I have some friends that don't know my last name, but are definitely my friends. And than I have people who know my last name, but definitely are only aquaintances. But to take your idea a little further, i know definitely as a high school student, sometimes we call people who are only aquaintances friends but aren't really friends, its just kind of a title I guess.
