I think this is good. It made me smile at parts. Little details, like when you mentioned the braces, really made it more real to me. Good job! And thanks for reviewing Sons and Daughters! (in answer to your question, I got Ruke's name from the back of an old picture in an antique store. it was of a little boy, and on the back it said "Ruke- age 9" lol.)

What was that last sentence about? Sounds pretty sad and dark. Nice way to twist things.

Anyway, it's rare that the popular girl likes the nerdy guy. That's more fantasy than reality. Seriously, dust off the old high school yearbook and try to find a match.
