In response to tehsharkie: yes, the Bible does say not to judge others. And yes, we should be more concerned about what God thinks of us, but in doing so we should remember that we are sinners in the hands of an angry God and could never be good enough for Him to spare unless He inflicts His just punishment on His own Son. The Bible tells us to help our brothers and sisters in Christ and CONFRONT each other when sin arises. It says to make sure to say things that lift others up and help them develop, not to curse or judge. It says we shouldn't be gay. Being a Christian means God has filled you with His Holy Spirit and a love for Him that we as humans, with a sinful nature, could never have on our own. If someone loves God, they love what He loves and they hate what He hates. Therefore we should as Christians strive to hate sin and do our best to stop it whenever it arises, even if it's homosexuality in our culture. However, we should be careful to do so in love and with justice.

Woow. Okay, major rant time. E.

I bet you’re going to disregard this for the obvious reasons; I swore in it like an angry sailor, and I’m completely against whatever you’re insinuating. Oh yeah, and it’s INSANELY hypocritical. I fully don’t expect you to take anything out from this at all, or change your views even just a tiny bit. I don’t even entirely know that I’m right about this-or anything. This is really for my own therapy.

Well, maybe (definitely) I don't fit as a "Christian". Maybe no matter how long my rant is or how passionate and fiery I get about it, it won’t impact you at all and end up backfiring in my face. But-

FUCK. (yeah, I said 'fuck'. Billions of people are suffering in the world from lack of resources, faith, or love in general and you're more pissed that I said 'fuck'.) YOU'RE A CHRISTIAN. Do you know what kind of history of oppression Christianity has? Do you know how TERRIBLE it was and is? What makes you think homosexuals will react differently? What makes you think that bringing them down is going to bring you up? Do you REALLY, TRULY believe that us not being able to produce a verse from the Bible supporting homosexuality is going to change ANYTHING? And what are you gaining from this little "challenge", again? You're just trying to prove liberal Christians wrong for your own sick agenda of what loving God is like. Loving God isn't about judging or criticizing; it's about LOVING. Do you truly think it's love to put someone down simply because of who they are? (Which, of course, opens up the door to that entire "They can change if they REALLY REALLY TRY!" argument. . My head hurts just thinking about it.)

Hell, at this point I don't even care anymore if you think being gay is wrong; just don't fucking spend all your time trying to cram it down everyone else's throats. You’re definitely entitled to your own opinion (yes, OPINION-it’s not automatically a truth just because you based it upon the Bible), but SO ARE WE. WHY. DOES. IT MATTER. Are you so *worried* that the *liberal Christians* are going to go to Hell for what they believe? Are you so *concerned* that we're compromising our *faith* for a *sin*? Well, don't be. I'm pretty damn sure it's a sin to judge others. And you may say and honestly believe that you're not judging, but you are. I guess I am too right now, but hopefully I’m not being that pretentious and holier-than-thou about it.

I challenge YOU to find ONE piece of scripture that encourages you to go around accusing people of being "abominations". I challenge YOU to find ONE piece of Scripture that tells you that it's YOUR responsibility to tell people what's wrong with who they are. I challenge YOU to find ONE piece of Scripture that tells you that you have the right to generally be a massive douchebag when it comes to people who don't conform to your idea of a good Christian or person in general.

You can write a massive rebuttal of this if you want. I do care, but I care more about what God thinks of me than what you do. (oh man that sentence was a minefield. :P) Say to that what you will, but I know this is who I really am, and God knows that too. I’m so sorry if I’m a ‘disappointment’ or a ‘failure’ as a Christian to you, but at least I know I’m not a cold-hearted jackass who has nothing better to do than weed out all the’ faults’ and’ flaws’ in today’s society , act like I actually have the authority to ‘fix’ them, and then imagine myself as a heroic martyr fighting for God’s glory. “HAY MOMMY I MANAGED TO GET GAY MARRIAGE BANNED GOD MUST BE SO PROUD!” No. Do you know what you are? You’re a well-meaning delusional person who’s fighting to shut down something that won’t be harming anything other than your OWN beliefs rather than going out there and actually HELPING people. LOVING people. And I’m going to go out right now and try to be a better person, not a holier one.

I'm not actually a liberal Christian (actually, I'm Wiccan) but I was a Christian, and the whole idea of the bible is "Judge yet ye be judged" so the whole "I'm a perfect Christain becuase I don't like gays" philosphy is totally warped.

The Old Testament since Jesus's coming. Thats why they made the NEW TESTAMENT. The old laws don't apply anymore.

The verse I provided above is in the new testament. Ans the laws of God from the old testament still apply. God is immutable.

Exactly. Homosexuality is a sin. What do you do with sins? You repent for them, and then trun away from them.

You've got a great thing going on here, brother, don't get discouraged, and keep up the good work. You're bound to run into opposition, but remember, the more trouble you get down here, the bigger your reward up there.

there is no such scripture...god is strictly against homosexuality..and what is a liberal christian? does that mean a christian that supports gays? because that's basically the equivalent of supporting a sin...
