this was interesting, but i found it a little stiff. for me its the way you write your sentences, everything is very direct and some of the details are not needed. (ex: Usually guests didn't come at this hour, but when Emily looked at the clock she saw that it was only one o' clock.)
other than that it was great. i liked the whole idea of a woman inheriting her fathers business.
