When I read this, I immediately got the sense that the speaker was paranoid, either having been rejected in the past or brought up to believe that, in the end, no one could be trusted, that everyone had an ulterior motive (I still believe that, to be honest D:). I can definitely sympathize.
I found that the way you had each stanza end with "Why?" and having an answer ("Because...") at the end of the very last one was very clever and added to the mood.
There's a couple things I picked out after reading through a second time:
"Ice *rums* through my veins," I think you meant 'runs' ;p
and
"But my hands *phase* through theirs" Phase? I've never seen that word used in that context before...
Other than that, I highly enjoyed reading this, Akio!
