aw...what a sweet piece!
man, that piece hit so close to home! i had a cousins who lived with me since she was born, and we were literally like sisters! and then she moved to the states almost 4 years ago and now we barely talk! yeah, i got the regular 'i miss you so much!' emails, but its different..and now i'm scared of meeting her cause i don't know if we'll be able to have the same kind of fun-loving, teasing sisterly relationship with all the gossiping and th boy crazy talking anymore..
i'm glad you kept in touch with Shannon...:D

This is really nice and good reminder... I've been separated from many friends due to changing schools or them moving away but it's good to be reminded we don't have to end the friendship because of it.

Interesting Essay. Makes the reader, at least myself, glad that you two are still friends. You introduce detail, though you don't saturate it like I usually do in my own work. You did a good job keeping the tense even though it did move chronoglogically.
I wish I still had contact with some of my old school friends.

i can relate to this...one of my close friends moved out of the state, all at once, and we've been writing to each other ever since...so now we live at two ends on the same country, but i went to see her during the hols once and we got to catch up in person...we still write and everything...its really cool...
i love the simple way you've written this...you really have captured the whole concept...keep on writing!

Beautifully penned of telling how one met becomes a friend and then...a sister... An experience I know and as I read this writing it reminds me of those I treasure most.

Hey Christine!Wow... I knew you and Shannon were best friends but I didn't know about this! I also share some of the problems you had/have. I used to be friends with all the "popular" people in elementary school, but when middle school came...boom. All gone. Lost to the "in" crowd, as you said. My best friend, Ian, used to live two minutes away from me and we would see eachother every weekend, but then he moved to Southside 60 minutes away. We were such good friends and I was sure that it would last even throught the milage, but we haven't seen each other for 6 months so... hope is dying.
