The images are excellent, though not so keen on the line "Muck squishes between my toes". It paints a lovely picture, I just can't work out what the message is. Maybe that's just me being daft.

It's impossible to ever know. Either the person just doesn't say it or express it, or you keep second-guessing yourself, or it's just not gonna happen. I like the way this poem asks the questions, though.
