Hmm. I notice you're something of an expert at stream-of-consciousness writing. You've evoked such a velvety gothic flavor in this piece: candle and blade, cracked mirrors, and the suicidal lover... Darkly beautiful. And it was a satisfying twist when the persona is killed, not by himself, but by the very person he loves. Pretty surprising, and somewhat tragicomic, especially when you showed how he still can't hate her, even at this point.
You know, the impression I get from the Madman Diaries is that all the men you're writing about are different incarnations of the same person. Doomed to fall-in-love-and-die over and over again... Great fantasy-novel premise, actually. ^_^

I'm beginning to see a trend here... I mean, the person (whoever's talking) is always in love, and in the end, he (I'm assuming this one's a guy, but I can't be sure) always ends up dead. Are you trying to tell us something or is this just your style? The parallelisms in the three stories are very interesting. :)

The first line I totally relate to! That whole vanishing in another's eyes concept I am more than familiar with. I thought it was dramatic and free. You have some open ends in the piece, which is good. I would have liked the character to not have died in the end, but still was fabulous!
