That was a great short story. I loved the tone, the descriptions, and the emotions. I’m not sure what I got out of it…but I think the old man never finished painting the students’ faces to comment on the fact that the students never finished anything. They don’t care about their future, don’t have any dreams, don’t want to do something meaningful or beautiful with their lives. It’s very gloomy commentary. But there is a lot of truth in it.
I’ll probably be thinking about this story for the next few days. It's one of those stories that stick to me for a while.
By the way, I believe “The Blue Van” is a perfect title.
