This is an interesting train of thought. It seems like you have a good story outline just below the surface of this essay. It reminds me of Battlestar Gallactica and how the Cylons see themselves as the agents of God's will.

(re bushy haired: maybe unorthodoxy's not the beast it's made out to be?) - a fair snarler - what's the message to your average mass of sentient atoms? nice "story" bit, and honestly expressed - does verge on the rant side though, one detail that might be watched..
