At first I didn't like the laid back style, kind of care-free as if you were sitting in a cafe having this conversation. But this was tied up nicely in the end. You described the narrerator well enough for the reader to get an idea of who it was, but vauge enough to let the reader fill and find themselves in the gap. Keep writing.
