That was so moving. I think for the length that it is, it's very well-written. However, you could turn it into a better story if you developed the places, feelings, and especially characters a little more. It was hard to keep track of who was who, while names were just thrown out there. Well-done. It's a well-known story but I've never read it in exactly this way before, so good job!

Never before in my life have I cried over something I read on this site. That was one awesome piece of writing... very chicken-soup-for-the-soul-esque... =P I'm a baby. I cried.
Keep up the awesome work. If everything you write is as good as this, then you're amazing. I'll have to read more of it later. ^.^
