OMG! SERIOUSLY, WHY DID I NOT READ THIS BEFORE! The way Donovon's character develops is absolutely amazing! The manner you make the romance bloom was definitely realistic. Love every bit of the story - the humour, romance and your amazing talent. I need this to be a movie as well! One of the best stories here on Fictionpress. Thank you so much for sharing it with us :)

The first time I read this story was around eight years ago, and I was only 12 then. I am 20 now, and my general opinion about your story has not changed.
I was actually re-reading another story when I suddenly (and very randomly) thought of Piper. At the time, I couldn't remember who she is, but I was sure that I knew her from a story I really enjoyed years ago. I also recalled the story having roof scenes, but that was it. It was just like me to forget the title. I didn't give up though! I eagerly rummaged through my old stuff and checked if I ever quoted a line from here in one of my journals. Well, I did not, but thankfully 12-year old me was clever (or cheesy) enough to make a list of her favorite characters in FP. Lol. Anyway, I was able to find the story by using Donovan and Piper as search keywords. And so here I am.
I just want to say that I have never felt this calm when reading a story. It is just so easy to read, especially without the unnecessary drama. It also feels refreshing to read a story from the male lead's point of view, but I'm glad to still get a good glimpse of the female lead's thoughts at the end. I guess my favorite part is how realistic this story is told and how the relationship took some time to develop. I also love how you characterized Donovan and Piper, and how their teamup is not the typical tandem you'd find in most stories. To me, he's just a guy, and she's just a girl, and it's beautiful like that.
Ahh, I'm thrilled knowing 12-year old me had managed to find this gem (and slightly proud 20-year old me managed to find it again lol). Now I must re-read all of your other stories! Congrats, and many thanks for sharing Just for Glory with us.

I found your story in January of 2007. I don't know if I ever got around to reviewing the first time around as it's been ten years, but I wanted you to know, in the last decade, your story of Donny and Piper has been a constant in my life.
Every few years when I feel disassociated or the anxiety of adult life gets too much, I find myself diving back in, enjoying the warm and pleasure of the familiar story drawn into the comfort of it like a well worn jacket. It feels like home.
I know it's very little to say to someone whose work is as important to me as the Harry Potter series, but I promise you, this story will always have my love.

Hold on - I'm logging on right after I finish posting this little review just to fave this piece. Your writing is beautiful. Piper and Donovan genuinely made me laugh aloud a couple of times and, dare I say it, shed a tear. I had a hard time peeling my eyes off of my screen for the majority of the day and even secretly continued reading it during dinner. Seriously, not many works get me to postpone my real life but yours managed to weasel into my heart and eat it out. There were so many common pitfalls you avoided so brilliantly. I like the fact that there wasn't needless drama. I like the fact that the characters felt real. I like the fact that you prioritized interactions over physical appearances. It seemed like I was reading a story about love - not lust... Gosh, I simply fail to be able to articulate my feelings right now.
So... yeah. Thank you for sharing gem this with the world :)

Hi! It's Juliet from A Drop of Romeo. When your story was featured on ADoR, a judge wrote this review for it: I read this whole story in one night - not my best move, considering I had two papers to write, but otherwise completely satisfying and totally worth it. I am in awe of Imaginary Parachute’s skill in characterisation, insight and writing in general.
The story begins with an unpleasant hallway encounter at high school. Donovan is a well-known pothead and slacker, while Piper is the notoriously frigid and clever wallflower. Their unusual friendship develops from a bet - refreshingly, the bet is quickly cast aside without further repercussions, instead of taking over and ruining their relationship.
The author keeps a tight focus on their relationship, giving it time and opportunity to slowly mature without distracting the reader with the high school nonsense that often revolves around main characters. Also, the story is written from both points of view so that the reader really understands both sides of any argument and the conflicting feelings and denial Donovan and Piper face. The pace is fairly slow, but each chapter is filled with detail and reveals something about each character, so that not one of the chapters is extraneous or dull. The deliberate, lingering mood of the story makes the ending exquisitely emotional.
I still think of Donovan and Piper fondly; that is how well and how realistically they were written. I cannot expound enough on the merits and beauty of this story. Read it. Read it.

I just LOVE how this isnt your typical highschool romance story. It kept reading. I actually started to lose hope that they would get together until Oliver came in to the story
