I have to say, I find this extremely humorous- mostly because of the ranting reviews you got.
I laugh because many of the things they have told you are meant to make you feel bad.
But I am selfish, I'm very interested in sex and I have no guilt. I do not believe in God because I cannot believe it and if I said I did, it would be a lie.
To comes to terms with the fact that this is all you get is better then pretending to believe. Rock on.

I love love love this essay. I get those messages all the time, and it's really funny, considering the people sending them to me know I'm an atheist, or don't know me at all.
But I completely agree with this essay. And I really wish I could repost this somewhere (like Myspace).
I want to give you a hug.
Also, I like your story, Life Support. Is there any chance you will update soon? 8]

hello, kindly send your sn (if you have one and if you dont e-mail me to let me know) to I do not wish to "push" my ideals upon you, rather, as you seem an intelligant person, i wish to discuss some of the matters discussed in this essay with you. I'm an extremely open minded person and i look at both sides of things before making my decisions and therefor would like to here your opinions on things. Consider it a chance to share your opinions. Thanks for your time.

Oh my, cherry pie! Excellent, excellent essay! This reminds me of my religious roller coaster. I've had a funny turn of events in my life considering I have parents that aren't exactly hard-core Buddhists so I strayed from their beliefs. In grade 4 I was influenced by a friend and believed that I could better myself if I turned to Christianity. I even read The New Testament lol. Since I was a kid, I didn't even rememeber or understand what I was reading... but I read it. Cover to cover. Shit, what the hell was I on? I think by the time I was in grade 6, my faith had simmered down and I was pretty much devoid of any religion- I guess that would have made me atheist heh.
Although, I can't say that there is such thing as "God" or a "god" or "gods", maybe there is something else higher than us... I just like to wonder sometimes. I'm Agnostic now I think. Yeah...
I was reading your comments and I found that some were pretty amusing. Someone even attacked you personally which I found pretty childish considering you were only voicing out your own opinions, which I found quite~ agreeable as well. I despise chain letters. And I get some religious ones too- from my own sister. Woe is me -_-.

Well done, dreamerdoll!
I'm not an atheist, but I'm the kind of Christian who likes to point out that Jesus was a Jew. And when people insist that the Bible is the truth because it's God word, I like to tell them sweetly how considerate I find it of God to drop such a marvellous book from Heaven, convenient index and all, and in English at that.
In other words: I'm a Christian who finds herself at odds with religious organizations, be they churches, sects, cults, or whatnot. - And that in a county that supposedly is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most churches per square mile worldwide!
Cheers :)

Haha that guy up there got mad. yeah. Well Tori, I know all too well of what you speak of and although people may well disagree with you, you know what fuck them you have your own opinion and your say in the matter so just try to igonore all the bullshit that the media tries to put into our brains, rant all you want about it many people just will not understand. I mean it is through the internet, the one where is was for looking up information many years ago but now has turned into chatting rooms, ads, meeting strangers, IMming, hypocritical lectures, and all media-influenced crap, and I respect all religions even those I don't even know exist because: you never know. Sometimes, people preach that miracles happen to them and that one day, God will show you that he exists. I have my own opinion about that though. Anyway, nice essay I know you took that World Religions Class, so you might know a little bit of what you are talking about, right? haha I know you do.

interesting article, i found it humourous. Don't really feel there is alot to write except everyone seems to be ignoring all the logic (not scientific evidence, logic) that goes against God. For one such form, see my article in the religious section of this site, "The Logical Debasement of a Christian God", as an athieset, you might find it interesting.

"To begin with, I don’t believe in God. I’m quite proudly an Atheist"
And quite pompously so.
"We are expected to keep our own beliefs behind closed doors, not able to exercise our own freedom of speech or freedom of religion, yet they are free to spout their beliefs in our faces"
How high were you when you wrote this. With all this censorship of your belief going on, I'm surprised you haven't been taken away by government agents for writing this mess of paranoia.
"MySpacers"
I just lost all faith in humanity.
"I’ve heard this one quite often, and truthfully, the only thought that comes to mind is this: 'Well, that sounds a bit perverted!'"
Only because you make it.
"telling me that my way of thought, my own convictions are totally incorrect"
Didn't you just do that to them 1 paragraph ago? The idiocy here is amazing.
"I am in fact using both currently to express myself and my feelings."
But before you said that your freedoms were restricted. Lay down the crackpipe.
"I didn't mean to offend anyone, by writing this, however, I do want to open your eyes to how others think."
Nice cop out. "Your beliefs are fucking retarded your book was written by crazy people. But I don't mean to offend you. There. No one can be mean to me now."
Grow up.

"stating that you should believe exactly what they do, telling you that it’s either their way, or the Highway to Hell-quite literally"
If you don't believe truth is relative to the individual, then, what else can you say?
"Never mind that their Holy Book was written thousands of years ago, by man, and has been changed hundreds of times since then, also by man."
Cite your sources. Cite specific examples of things changed hundreds of times. If you are going to insult someone's Holy Book by attacking its credibility, at least do so without looking like a complete idiot. Don't assume things. The Bible has remained the same (less some spelling variations) through the earliest copies we have. And if you look at how many manuscripts (thousands) of the Bible books we have, you'd wonder why historians are casting so much doubt on the Bible, especially since they are not hesitant at all to trust in their maybe 4 copies of Homer's Odyssey.

Thank you so very much. I agree with what you wrote. I found this to be well written, and very true. I hope to read more of what you write. You presented you facts in a rational and somewhat humourous manner. It turned out very nicely. Keep writing.

Atheism is just as narrow-minded as hardcore religion. It's also often more annoying.

Go you! This didn't seem anti-christian, it seemed more anti-blind followers. This is a good new angle on an old rehashed subject, and it should be appreciated! Which is why I'm reviewing, by the way.

I wish I could say what I wanted, but previous reviewers already took what I was going to say.
Yeah. Here, more people are attending church than the bar,but I noticed that it's more of the church goers that go to the bars XP That's here anyway.
Another thing I hate. People here will get ridiculed for not believing in god or being bisexual or homosexual, yet these people saying these things are smoking pot, drinking alcohol and having kids at 15 on the weekends. Yeah. I can't be myself, but they can sure do those things that they call "unholy".
I love that. Don't you?
Good essay.

Hullo Victoria, I am very glad you shared this essay. I am, in fact, a Christian, but nevertheless I understood completely what you were saying. I get SO sick and tired of those forwards that sometimes I would get angry. For one thing, they are completely biblically unsound. We don't need to prove we're Christians, we don't need to prove there is a God, we don't need to prove we have moral standards. All those things should be evident, and probably most of these people making these messages are just guilty and ashamed of who they are; which is totally wrong.
Anyhow, sorry for this wrong rant, *lol* I really just intended on thanking you for sharing your thoughts with us, and complimenting your writing skills. (=
