You used a little too many present participial phrases in your narration, but the story is great. I like this modern Casanova. Very good idea putting the historical note as an informal intro.

Wow, Shane sounds like a real jerk (I guess that comes with being a womanizer and all). I hope he'll be able to redeem himself soon. Since it looks as if he's not much into relationships though, why did he ever got married in the first place?
