that was so hauntingly captivating. At first I thought I was reading of the journey of a solider
Then I realize the imagery you paint is not that simplistic to assume that.

"I wonder what they are thinking as they lie silently in there dust covered beds,

Pleased?"

This line chilled me because of the suggesting of who ever they are being asleep in their own deteriorated dust, then that question "pleased?" It makes you wonder is it really death of bliss or one of dread
Or is it something else altogether?

Who is this damned entity? A man, a boy, or something unearthly? I asked while I read this.
Fantastic writing. Very commendable.
