6/7/2023 c20 The Jordanator
Wow what a captivating story! This one really has been an emotional journey and I’m still thinking a lot about it even though the story never ended and I’m writing this long review to get it out of my system.
I have so many things to talk about and unpack here but I’ll keep it as succinct as I can.
You’ve done an outstanding job on creating these characters of varying personalities. The most interesting one by far has been Salem, because I’m still trying to figure him out completely. What I would have liked to have more of is description of what they looked like so it’s easier to imagine face to names. I tried doing this with Jeremy and Salem and ended up imagining them looking like Hunter Doohan and Timothée Chalamet
(Sorry I know modern pop-culture references shouldn’t belong in a review for a story that’s come from the mid-2000’s)

The drama, chaos, and romance the novel presents in the mind and eyes of Jeremy is very thrilling and made me verbally react a lot - from bugging out and laughing uncontrollably over Father Nighte’s “which son of mine are you dating?” to screaming “NOOOOO” when things went south with Salem. One thing I can say for sure though is that this is definitely not a love story. Well at least so far it’s not. While on the surface it appears chaotically sitcom, the undertones are disturbingly dark. While I found myself initially hoping that Salem was gay (tick), and stopped hurting Jeremy and hook up with him (tick), it soon became mortifying. Salem has actually not stopped being a bully, all he’s done is changed his tactics. Jeremy is right not to trust him, the dude is manipulating and outright raping him. NOWHERE has Jeremy ever given his consent (not a major social issue when this was written I know) to even allow him first base, and “giving in” does not count. Salem has only demonstrated that he looks out for himself, and so with every single one on one interaction with Jeremy since that plot-twisting kiss in the park, once he’s confirmed to himself that Jeremy is at least bi-curious, he greedily tries to make him his Fboy. This comes to the fore in the latest chapter. Salem is well and truly the devil in this story. What happened with Aza and Salem’s ex clearly has to be connected with how Salem behaves around Jeremy. The conflict in Chapter Twenty was a conflict I’m very glad happened, Jeremy stood up for himself and made it clear he was not going to be quite literally screwed over by Salem. However, there’s another part of me that wishes that maybe they could have a better relationship. If only Salem could regret his actions and respect Jeremy more, if only Jeremy didn’t deny his underlying romantic feelings for Salem. If only there was resolution to the story.
Unfortunately we will only be left to guess what happens next. I understand as somebody with many unfinished creative writing projects that things in life prevent us from ever reaching the end goal. I hope whatever has happened that you are okay and living the best life you can have. Thank you for sharing the story-so-far with us and giving it your absolute best while you could. ️

This story is absolutely incredible. I don't read often at all but I couldn't put this down. I'm so sad it's not finished and won't ever probably be finished since it's been over a decade. That truly breaks my heart. Thank you for a wonderful story. It's never too late to finish what you started and update it... Hopefully one day.
