for Why I Don't Watch Sports

It's just an a hour or 2 of distraction. Nothing more nothing less.

this is a relatively well written essay, but I disagree with most of your points.

"why sports fans interpret a win by their team as some sort of personal achievement"

the sports fans are generally proud of their team. It's like a parent being happy when their child accomplishes something. The parent doesn't get anything out of it, but their glad all the same. People view the teams that they cheer for as representing them in some way; after all, without the fans, there would be no pro sports. If the team that represents them does well, they're naturally going to be happy.

"But if men are so competitive, then why would they watch sports? By watching sports you are wasting your own time and getting behind. While you are watching some game someone else is working, earning more money, and getting ahead! If you really were competitive, you wouldn't watch sports!"

People like to be entertained; that's something that's natural for everyone, even those that don't like sports. And, as far as I know, most people's jobs are not entertaining. And also, most sports games take place after the workday or whatever is finished and don't interfere with a person's ability to get ahead. Many rich people are avid sports fans."

"If I were a spectator I would not be proud of the athlete but instead I would be envious"

true. But very few are envious. Those that are are generally competitors of the athlete who failed to make it big.

"I don't understand why they dress up in their team colors, pay money for tickets, face paint, and buy food at inflated prices just to sit in a stadium among other fans and shout, scream and pretty much act crazy"

They do this for one simple reason: It's fun. I've done that before with friends and those experiences have been some of the most enjoyable of my life. Being eccentric provides for a very good time!

I agree with your point but you ramble some and get off topic quite a bit. Also you end quite adruptly.

Your little split personalities are even worse at economic reasoning than you are.
