This chapter is serious the best! Especially the part when Ben told Goldie off, "What makes you think I want to sleep with you again, anyway?" Freaking priceless! I would also say that if I were to be in Ben's position. This was just raw and filled with emotions. You write so damn well. I just wanted you to know that. :D

I’m so glad you didn’t give up on this story! I thought one thing after I read this chapter, then I completely changed my mind after I went back and read some of the old chapters. First of all, I think it’s time for them to have another hot and steamy night. After re-reading their last encounter, I couldn’t help but focus on how he kissed her on the forehead before getting out of bed. It was such a sweet, sentimental kind of gesture, that showed he cares about her.
It made me think, what if next time they slept with each other she realized he was making love to her, not just having sex with her. I wonder how she would react if he was being tender and gentle with her, knowing he would only do that if he had feelings for her? She doesn’t seem to get that. Right now she thinks he’s motivated by his pride and revenge.
After reading the chapter, I first thought we are finally seeing another side to Josh’s bimbo. The nice, sweet side, showing she has a heart of gold. Then I went back and re-read some of the old chapters and thought, hmmmmmm. Why was she willing to give him up so easily? If she really cared about him, why offer to give him up at the drop of a hat for Maddie, who isn’t even her friend, who she also realizes doesn’t seem to like her?
At first I thought the whole “if you really love someone you are willing to let them go to make them happy” thing. But that doesn’t seem right, unless she believes Josh loves Maddie back. Why give him up unless she thought Josh would turn to Maddie in the end, and is really only using her for sex. Breaking up with him wouldn’t help Maddie because her feelings would still be hurt when Josh started dating someone else. Giving him up wouldn’t mean that he would remain single for long. It seems like she knows it’s just a sex thing that will eventually wear out because they don’t have anything in common.
I re-read the other poker game chapter, and couldn’t help but focus on their friend admitting that she was shallow. Top that off with how she was sticking her tongue down this throat in front of everyone, really made me think it’s all about the sex with them. I couldn’t help but think she is so shallow and willing to drop him so quickly, because she feels she can easily replace him. If she loved him, or was falling for him, it wouldn’t be so easy to walk away. Yet she seems to be perfectly willing to do so. Hmmmmm.
The more I thought about it, the more I thought it was true. I think Josh had mentioned they had been together a little more than a month. So they are still in the honeymoon phase of the relationship. Even though Ben claims Josh said this time it’s different because he had feelings for her. It was bound to happen sometime, when they say Josh would usually dump a girl after two weeks. He wouldn’t be the first guy to sleep around, not wanting to get too close to anybody, knowing in the back of his mind that he has already chosen the girl he intends to settle down with one day. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wants to sleep around now to get it out of his system, and never have any regrets down the line, knowing he was still keeping Maddie within arms reach so he wouldn’t lose her.
I also noticed that Maddie isn’t willing to tell him about Ben. Why? What’s the big deal if he is openly dating someone else? It makes me wonder how he would react, and that she knows he will react badly to the news. It’s not like he can call her a slut, because he seems to be the bigger slut between the two. I can’t help but think he’d be jealous if she openly dated someone, because he still wants to be her number one guy no matter what, even if he is with someone else.
Between the two couples, it seems Ben and Maddie have what it takes to make it last. They see the worst in each other, but still can’t help but be attracted to each other. That’s when it can end up being true love, because you love someone despite all their flaws (I’m speaking from experience, after once falling in love with a guy I couldn’t stand for two years.) Josh’s relationship reminds me of all those couples who fall in love, get married and divorce after two years once the hot sex has cooled down. That’s when they really get to know each other, and realize they don’t like what they see. At the moment, they are both blinded by lust, and their hot bodies, and will probably crumble when real life problems start coming their way.
It's so hard. Josh and Maddie have history, and a true friendship, but Ben and Maddie have hot chemistry. Tough choice.

I hope he doesn't give her the brush off by saying, sorry I don't feel that way about you. They've been friends since they were kids, and she already knows that he doesn't seem to return her feelings, so having him state the obvious would feel so wrong considering she must have been in love with him for years. Please don't make me hate him.
Ben was a jerk for dropping the bomb, but it would have been worse if he did it in front of Josh. He really must be in to her even after she used him. He seems to be lashing out because he's hurt, and not because he's out to get her. Can he do something nice, and have her accept it, and it not be part of a game or revenge strategy to lower her guard then stab her in the back?

Oh wow, it blows my mind that this has been updated! I've been with this since it's first foray into the world and I've definitely missed it.
I love how Ben and Maddie are so complex and not immediately easy to like. They're both as prickly and easily hurt as each other. Honestly, Maddie thinks she wants to be with Josh? She'd crush him in an instant!
I adore that Sandra isn't just some bimbo cow with absolutely no depth. Just because she'd not like Maddie doesn't mean she's a terrible person, she's actually kind of sweet. A much better fit for Josh!
