I have no knowledge of French, and have been thinking about teaching myself some, and this convinced me of that. so harrowingly beautiful- wow. the more and more I read it. brilliant, brilliant work.

something began,then
something else collapsed, and i still dream of the grandfather weeping
over his own coffin
intriguing and wonderous.
perhaps for the french, it’s lightning
that lashes sight to suns
but for that line, that line alone, you are a goddess, becasue being french, and missing france, and loving france, and everything surrealist and jean cocteau and les illumines, siecle de lumieres & my god. seriously, that is amazing and wonderful and gorgeous and... my god.

This poem is so gorgeous, you make it flow in an incredible way from one line to the next. French is one of the "romance" languages so of course fits well with this poem. Definitely gonna favourite this, and keep writing more!

i love french, it's such a beautiful language and i'm studying it right now. it works perfectly in this poem, which is incredibly powerful. i would pick out my favorite lines but it all flows so beautifully together and it's just a strong, beautiful poem. definitely a favorite - i love your writing.

"and i still dream of the grandfather weeping/over his own coffin,"
"aime-moi si c’est possible."
And of course, your mention of Dali, one of my favorite painters. Je l'aime. La poesie est belle. J'aime les Francais parce que je peux le comprendre. :)

This is beautiful. I love the way you voice your opinions within the poem. The french ties it together and it gives me a real feeling of nostalgia... Good job. I thought it was wonderful.

i'm not too good in french (spent most of the one year i took doing homework for spanish the period after. ^_^*) but i thought this was wonderful- the rushed, tumbled words and the fact it has no beginning and no end. unrelated subjects threaded randomly. nice.

I like the mixture of languages and the sound that emanates. Excellent how you bring in glimpses and fragments of imagery and scenes to create an overall image run, kind of stream of consciousness, bits and pieces joined, but I like that, the connections that seemingly unlike things make when they are remembered or seen together in a certain context. Very well written, though my French is rusty, it's relatable through the connections you've presented. Great write.
