To the above reviewer:

In both instances, the sentence is grammatically correct and do not require commas. Some English teachers will say there should be a comma before "and" in a list, but a comma there is neither required nor discouraged.

Wonderful so far! A few things that just sort of stood out...(Because what good author really likes a review without constructive critisism?)

"...view of the conflict and the pristine air of..."

I would be inclined to put a comma after conflict.

"Occasionally the sounds of battle would be pushed upward by the wind and the air would fill with the sound of horses, men and the clash of swords."

Okay, so there, I'd think a comma after occasionally, wind, and I believe there's supposed to be one after men.
