Oh my god, this story was just too CUTE! I had was a little hesitant to read it at first, cause I don't really read stories like this, but as soon as I started reading, I was sucked in! I just LOVE the characters, and I like how you make them seem human - Danny and Kevin had a few fights, but they managed to work them out. I like The List and how everyone at the school decided to show 'homosexual PDA.' It was like a real slap to the face for the headmaster. And the 'Team Table' was also pretty awesome, too. It was really inspiring, the way Kevin created a place for kids who were gay, bi, or simply supportive. I wish all school had a place like that.

The whole book was a delight from start to finish. You know when you get that buzz when you are into a good book - the "I will just read one more chapter" syndrome, only to find you come to the end way too soon! This is such a book, with wit, wisdom and escapism, with characters that are all believable and LOVABLE.
It made me think in many unexpected ways and I came out better for it. I love a fun story with great dialogue and so I would recommend this to anyone. Many thanks Failte 200 and I am really keen to see you take up the pen again ... make it soon!

Hi.
THANK you so much for sharing this fantastic story!
Even though it's pure fluff you make it seem realistic. The change is not always made by one person and it's gradual. ( I think about the school.) And the characters have real problems to go through not just the usual he loves me loves me not problems. And the changes are slow and understandable.
Even if sometimes everything is a tad too optimistic and perfect (the ppl, the circumstances)- it's still believable. It could happen.
I enjoyed this story a lot and read it in one go.

ps:
I read your profile and I am a 31y old woman from Germany. I started enjoying slash 6 years ago. I read a lot and I got bored of the same stereotypes in non-slash romances. So I changed to new stereotypes. Now I am looking for less stereotypical stories no matter the pairing. (so THANK you for writing this gem)

I would like to say that this is one of the best stories I have read in a while.
You described everything with great detail, and had correct spelling.

I don't even know how I ended up on your profile, but somehow I did and like it! And I was a little bored with what I've been reading lately so gave this a whirl-gives me some perspective. In any case I enjoyed reading, but my favorite line was from this chapter, "Perhaps because that was the area of his night-time studies now, it didn't really come as a surprise when he was kidnapped." A pretty dull and innocuous line at first read, but it was such a non sequitur that I cannot help but lol. so thanks for the lulz?

Okay, I read this like... FOREVER ago but I was to damn lazy to log on because I'm just like that sometimes, so I lost it and I was so sad, 'cause after weeks of shit writing I found something GOOD! GASP! Who'da thunk it... It actually exists...
Is thunk a word? My computer claims it is.
Holy shit dude! Okay. You're my new best friend. YOU are the person that wrote this, which means YOU are the person that helped me understand why I'm so damn uncomfortable in my own skin!
I sound really sappy... Ew. Either way, I thank you magical old man! Haha.
...You know, I should not be confused because I hear the line 'hearing songs about getting dumped give me an erection' while listening to my own mp3... I learned not to question myself a long time ago.

311 reviews. Oh dear. How am I ever going to find something to say that hasn't been said already! X-)
First off, as usual, wow this was educative. I'm glad stories like this exist, and we should have more of them in the world! Even though there's some similarities here and there between your narratives, giving minor "I've seen this before" effects (but hee, I knew what frottage was already and the main characters didn't!), the part where you include ... craggy? (does that even translate?) - out-of-the-ordinary main characters in them has been very refreshing - and definitely bears repeating. I think it's a major strength in your writing, characters that feel especially human.
Identifying with Dani as a strong female lead was a rare joy, too - if I may drop an old cliché here, Dani made me feel a lot like when I heard Obama was elected: if a black(ish) university professor can become president in the States, then I can finish (insert project here), or succeed as a minority gender in (anything)! ;) She's just a great character to identify with to feel better and more head-on about your chances at life.
I might have been mildly eye-rolling about Kevin being loaded enough to buy dresses and going snowmobiling near a private cabin, but I liked how it tied into the political career in the end, rather than just being a random obnoxious-prince-of-your-dreams element. (Is there a name for these kinds of characters, anyway? Like there is for Mary Sues?)
Oh, snowmobiling reminds me - I assume the talk of EverClear being "pure alcohol" could be just intentional ignorance on the characters' part, but the chemist in me wants to throw in a word of caution. Everclear is 75-95% alcohol (you can't actually get much higher than that). But more importantly, _YOU DO NOT DRINK IT AS SHOTS_, since that can in-worst-case kill you. Instead, you mix it into something to get the alcohol level down so that it doesn't go and burn up your esophagus upon digestion (I can't find backing to respiratory problems from evaporating ethanol on Finnish Wikipedia though, so I may misremember that bit; I just seem to vaguely recall that the regular alcohol poisoning itself wasn't the central cause of death here, and esophagus burns, while nasty, don't sound quite as deadly).
Unfortunately the English Wikipedia's take on beyond-beverage alcohol consisted mainly of instructing on use and listing where you can get the stuff, but since Finnish has a popular _word_ for this stuff there's a more natural place to hook the nastier information into. But anyway: trust me, I'm Finnish - I genetically know all there is to know about getting people people killed with alcohol. ;) (I don't actually _use_ the stuff though, the really fun facts I hear from chemist friends, quickly cross-checked with local Wikipedia for this purpose.)
So in short, while I greatly enjoyed the educative word-of-caution about too vigorous anal sex baked into Dani and Kevin's breakup, I might suggest that in the name of not sending young readers into "trying this at home" (even without extra entertaining sparks, where you hit the nail on the head - it's a bit strange, though, that no one ever mentioned the burned-down cabin later or called the fire department), the bit about our two heroes chugging large shots of EverClear down their gullets might warrant some minor adjustment. Not that I believe too strongly in people doing stuff by example, but if I trust your word on anal sex, someone's bound to trust it on booze too.
I made some notes about typoes (there weren't too many, noted about 1 per chapter), but since it's a long story you get a couple of samples and if you want the rest, lemme know and I'll positionify the rest for you. Space missing in "You talked me into it!"Danny said and "No, no... to personal" - too, both in ch 3. "Or maybe your bisexual" - you're, in ch 4.
Oh, loved the "Kevin was in a teenage boat" bit in ch 5 btw. I think "17 year old boy" nearby it is traditionally hyphenated into 17-year-old.
I'm probably forgetting something but I have to end this review somewhere. It was a great story, quite devourable. Definitely recommend!

Took me more than 3 years to find a story as good as this and I loved it! Kevin and Dani may be my favorite couple out there.

Wow, just wow. I absolutely LOVE this story. And I really hope that one day the world would be ready for something like that. Very inspirational story that really makes you think.

I'm glad you emailed me and asked me to read your story. I loved it. The ending was perfect. That Dani is a spitfire and Kevin sure is lucky to have her.
