thanks for the quick updates.
I'm torn between Kade and Adrian. I like both of them but of course I like Adrian better (for some reason). I'm so glad I don't find Kylie annoying, usually I find the main characters very annoying and very whiny.
I hope this is a happy ending! and looking forward to that cabin trip.

This chapter was much better. I found the previous 3-4 chapters frustrating because there is no explanation for Adrian's behaviour, and there wasn't any implications of his hidden desire for Kylie, it felt forced and rushed. This chapter had a more controlled flow, attention to detail and passion. I hope more chapters are like this (well of course in style not plot). =]

Would you believe I went through and reread this story earlier today? Or maybe it was last night... my days are melting together. A stupid assignment for my third semester course threw out my sleeping pattern. It's over and done with now, thank the Lord.
Anyway, onto business - I loved it. She's playing him.
And oh Lordy, if I were her I would have loved that kiss. It would have been the first kiss she has ever had that she had a choice over. I know she's kissed Adrian before because she's wanted to. But this kiss was different.
I hope Adrian doesn't find out. I think he'd kill Kade for that and give her a beating and maybe sell her. Even if he loves her, men have their pride.
I think this weekend is the perfect time for Kylie to prove herself to him. Basically, I say you ought to put them in the position where it is just them and she has the chance to run away but she doesn't. Or she saves his life or something, stays with him while he's sick. Basically I think this could be the climax of your story (a climax generally occurs in the middle of the story so you've roughly got a 40 chapter story on your hands).
Oh, and could you mention what is going on with the war at the moment? I see this story ending shortly after Lia wins the war and declares slavery illegal. And I am also curious to hear what happened to Stephen. I know though that sometimes you just don't get find out.
I really do find this story great. I love great love stories. How predictable is it that I absolutely adore The Notebook? I'm not sure how yours will end. Will she be with Kade, will it be with Adrian (he'd have a lot to make up for)? Will she be with Stephen or even on her own? I don't know.
Anyway, I have to go. Cheerio,

Wow, Kylie's attitude really has changed.
I kinda liked the old Kylie better, spontaneous and honest. Now she's really a calculating bitch.
Hope she doesn't mess up too bad though.
Can't wait for the next chapter !

Hey, I got your PM. I just didn't want anyone talking you into destroying something you've created. Now onto the story!
Funny how his first response was "love" when they were talking about why she was there. It is sort of like the husband who accuses his wife of cheating because he's the one cheating. I wonder if he moved away from her partly because he was fearing the hold she had over him. After all, all it took was her coming to him in a state of "need" and he was all over her. AND he didn't like her drinking. She makes him react.
If I were her I'd be dying to get out and have some fun (not the booze-oriented kind). In those days it seems as though the mistress was there so that they could fulfill any needs a wife didn't. You could see how she played that against him.
You brought it all back in this chapter. You wrote of how she never used to see herself as one of his girls but now she is. I've read about how often people think they're one thing when they're not. I think it's something like 75% of people think they're in the top 25% of the population when it comes to intelligence.
And have you ever read about the By Stander effect? It's where people have this tendency not to do anything in a crisis. So yeah, you'd be amazed at how different people can be from what they really think they are. Most people would say "yes, I'd help as much as I could if someone was in danger" but we've all driven past a traffic accident before. An interesting book I want to read is called "Thirty-Eight Witnesses" by A. M. Rosenthal. It is about Kitty Genovese. Google her, it's really interesting, I learnt about her in on of my psych classes.
Anyway, back to the story. Adrian's mistresses were not all bad once apon a time. They had dreams, and loves, and ideas before he came along and made it all about himself and turned them into horrible women. I hope he realises how much he has hurt them in the end, how much he stole from them - an amazing life.
I love how you're making him realise what is going on. You're having him married off so he can realise what it is like to have no control. I think you need to REALLY make him feel how the girls do for it to sink in. Anyway, I've meandered,
Talk to you next chapter!
