I think it could have used more detail. For one thing, I thought the story took place in current times and was about high school students up until you used the word "courting" about halfway through the story. Telling background details (just little stories, incidents during the narrator's day) will help us get a grasp on these charecters so that we can care about them and what happens. It'll also help us keep them straight, especially with all of the charecters you tell us about at the opening.

You write very well. From the minute I started reading this I was instantly drawn into the story. This has so much more of a meaning to it than the words say. Love, life, and friendship. I applaud you for the time being.
