We've heard it so many times but I seriously love, love, love this story. I just keep on coming back to it, definitely one of the best ones I've ever read on here!
ps I can definitely see Gaspard Ulliel as Alex ;)

omg! okay so i just finished reading both of your RR stories. and theyre pretty good! (i know im wayy late to jump on this bandwagon) but yeah. the first one has better development and stuff. the second one has more exciting events and stuff. also i know you used lines from the first one in the second one but it sometimes didnt have as great an effect as it did in the first. like owen's "lord darkstar fury commands you to be quiet"? yeah, way better in the first one. like they were so funny that i was roflmao. i think, the characters in the family needed more development. and alsoo... idk why but in the beginning i wanted nicky and grant to be together. =D
but overall, GREAT STORIES!
and i cannot wait to read your sequel. starting tomorrow.
(yes i know im very late to jump on this bandwagon too)

man, I really loved it, even though I'm a little pissed off because it had a happy ending (I'm all for tragedy and stuff)

I don't think I've reviewed this story before. I read it when you first posted it, but I'm terrible at reviewing. I always mean to, but even with the best intentions, I still forget. Anyway, I also read the original Romance and Reason back when you posted it (I believe I reviewed once) and I have to say, I'm thrilled you rewrote it. The original held a lot more drama and I hope you don't mind me saying this, but it tended to get a bit ridiculous what with the Stephanie drama, the religious battles, and Alex's grandparents. Redux is much more solid and while it's still filled with drama; it's of the high school variety, which can be very entertaining. Sure, there is still the big fight with the parents, but what I love the fact Alex and Adrian tell them, and it's not something the parents discover themselves. I think the move to Arizona was the right thing to do, and I commend you for making that decision.
Adrian's character always bugged me in the previous one. I think she's much more of a callous bitch in this one, but it's easier to see why Alex likes her. In the previous one, I could see the challenge she offered, but I frankly couldn't see it lasting past the summer, let alone through college. In this one, she meets most things head-on, much like Alex does. She cares what people think, sure, but she doesn't let it hold her back. Grant said it best when he told Adrian that Alex had met his match. I also loved how the two didn't really change throughout the course of the story, although they did mature a bit; the only thing that really changed was their feelings towards one another. I find that very realistic considering their personalities.
I also have to add that I love the River Valley ensemble. All of them - especially Quentin and even down to all the Blake and Montgomery kids. You have so many characters in the story, not all front and center, but each one of them has such a different, distinct personality. I am awe of your ability to do such a thing, as well as your clever quips. A lot of authors, even published ones, do not have the ability to characterize even supporting characters the way you do.

Hmm, I liked it. Really, I did. It was a bit over the top sometimes, but what good high school fic isn't. It's kinda funny that all the drama that Alex and Adrian put themselves through can be mostly attributed to a bad first impression.
I read a couple chapters into the first version of this, and decided that I liked Redux better-simply because of the harsher personalities of the characters. It's like you said. Alex isn't some psuedo bad boy who's magically reformed by the good girl. Both Alex and Adrian have flaws-they pull of a sort of maliciousness that only teenagers can possess, and for that I can't help but be intrigued by them. Yet, they're both still human and (shockingly) vulunerable at times. I think that's one of the things I loved the most about this story. Alex never changed; he's still the bastard that was when the story first began. And somehow he managed the cause Adrian to unleash her inner bitch.
FYI, Travis is my favorite character. How can you not love the kid? He was a tree for Halloween!

I've wondered for awhile now (after seeing a talk show on TV) what would happen if children in a step-family fall in love...and this story seems to have answered my questions.
Great story! I'm looking forward to reading more!

i did read the first one and i think this one was a bit better just because her thoughts took whole new trails. and there was a lot more drama in this one with her going to school and dealing with cliques there and then alex's friends came and trouble came with them... perfecto!

Charming as always. I should have read this one first. But still Alex and Adrian are mean people. I don't like them that much. At least Alex has the excuse of being mind blowingly handsome. I like Meg and Isaac a lot. I think they resemble more to their older siblings than Nicky and Owen. And above all, I continue to be madly in love with Quentin...
