Just In
for Bending the Truth

The first thing I thought of was Animal Farm and the post-WWI USSR. Of course, then I logically thought of Hitler and Stalin and fascism and the propaganda that previously mentioned dictators used to turn the people into hard-working yet docile citizens.

And now I'm rambling.

This poem is true on so many levels, though I may be missing the entire point here. Leaders have the power to bend the truth, and since the leaders are the ones usually seen by the rest of the world, foreigners judge the citizens by the leaders. Just look at Bush and the US. It's not unlikely that hundreds of thousands of people think that all Americans are nosy meddlers and/or warmongers.

Again: rambling. Forgive me. Great poem; shows us the reality of the political business if nothing else, eh? ;)
