We often do write on inspiration.
Some vivid and realistic portrayal of soldier life - don't underestimate yourself. We all have potential. It doesn't matter if it's correct or not - more importantly it's your perspective of it, which is what is unique and important.
Was cool, though why was it all in italics?

Oh wow! That was so good! I didn't realize it was a poem at first, but when I clicked it and read it, it was so amazing! I used to be pen pals with a soldier, and this sounds a lot like what his day was like. Loved your rhyming, it flowed really well. Awesome job!
